Collaboration Set to Incorporate 15-32% UBQ™ into

Polystyrene to Offset Product’s Carbon Emissions

Mexico City (February 08, 2022) – Resirene, the largest polystyrene resin producer in Mexico, announced today a partnership with UBQ Materials, developer of the leading climate-positive thermoplastic material on the market, UBQ^TM, to produce the first worldwide circular grade high-impact polystyrene (HIPS) compound with UBQ^TM inside, which will make it the most sustainable in the world.

Resirene, a large polymers’ producer,  serves numerous market segments, including polymer applications for food & beverage, healthcare and medical products, electronics, construction and institutional products, among others. Anticipating the increase in demand and aware of the growing need for sustainable products,the company has made significant R&D and production investments. UBQ^TM products will be used in higher-value and dialy-use items ranging from razor handles to signage products.

UBQ Materials transforms unsorted household and municipal landfill-destined waste into UBQ™, a climate-positive, cost-competitive plastic replacement. UBQ^TM is a bio-based drop-in material that can be incorporated into standard manufacturing processes without additional machinery or materials. The production of UBQ^TM decreases the landfilling of waste, preventing methane emissions and curtailing the leakage of toxic substances into the soil.

After extensive R&D trials and testing to develop the new material with UBQ, Resirene has already started to sample the new material with clients. The added environmental value of incorporating UBQ^TM is meaningful to customers and is projected to outweigh marginal increases in product costs.
